Forest fires rage on exploited lands. Fossil fuel pits burn in the open. The globe boils. Burning tires and traffic lights serve as barricades on city streets. Arson attacks that in a single flash illuminate oppressions obscured for decades. Inflamed speeches. Sparks that spread, infecting revolutions. An out-of-control fire engulfs the world we live in. The future, in smoke, seems to be slipping away from us. Fire doesn't just destroy. Fire illuminates. Fire transforms that upon which it unleashes its fury. Sitting with our heads in our hands, we so often watch it do so, daydreaming. It's not the arsonist who creates fires. It's the fire that educated the arsonist. A stranger to our intentions and distinctions, fire, an inhuman force, roars. With Fuego Fuego I continue my search for a non-human theatre, making the roar of that black animal reverberate on the stage.
